Project Background

Client : A Drilling Contractor

Project : Re-activation of a drilling rig from a West African shipyard.

Situation : To produce a high level definition study to identify scope of work, schedule and cost requirements to return the unit to drilling operations.

Èpeus was asked to execute a detailed survey and technical evaluation for the reactivation of a cold stacked drilling unit. This definition study would create a platform based on schedule, quality and cost from which the client would proceed and commit to capital expenditure.

The Findings

As a result of the survey findings it was concluded that the project was technically feasible within the expectations of the owner. The Èdge Enhancer Plus study and risk assessment demonstrated that the project cost sensitivity could be mitigated and managed to the clients requirements.

Project Outcome

From a cost perspective the project could be implemented with a P90 probability accounting for a contingency sum to cover any scope growth. A P50 probability against a known/fixed scope or a P10 probability with an aggressive schedule and incentives.
